Composer Connor Ilchuk's music immortalizes the spirit of the famous quote by British mountaineer George Mallory. "Because it's there," was his succinct answer when asked why he wanted to climb Mount Everest in the 1920s, encapsulating the inherent challenge and allure of the mountain as a symbol of human endeavor.
The soaring melodies of this show uses themes from the Strauss Alpine Symphony, Schwanter's ...and the mountains rising nowhere, Olympiada by Samuel Hazo, and the power ballad Rise Up by Andra Day to help bring your ensemble to new heights.
